This is almost like a primary-school lesson, but how many times have you failed at something because you simply didn’t try hard enough or long enough? The test of an individual’s character is how tenacious he is. The correct attitude is like that of a bulldog: get hold of an idea and never let it go. If you have an objective, and a roadblock gets in the way, you must get around, or underneath, or over, or through the barrier. No roadblock should stop you. You must keep on keeping on.
Many a time I have seen that tragedy of human life where someone would have achieved a great thing if he had just kept at it a little longer. Success was just out there at the end of his outstretched fingers, but he was so tired and discouraged that he let go. If he had lunged for it, if he had tried once more, he would have had it!
Life is a challenge but that is what makes it interesting.
One may be a rose and add brightness and colour to some dark corners of the world; one may be a lily and teach a lesson of live and purity to every eye that sees; one may be climbing a vine and hide the rugged outlines of some dark rock; one may be a great oak among whose boughs the birds shall nest and sing, and beneath whose shade the flock shall rest at join, but everyone will be something worth while, something rare, something perfect.
